I think you should have a low entry price and bump up the price as you add more features.. Like you did with MD pricing!

I would jump on the lifetime price for this SO HARD.

I also have one other suggestion: the option to add a second step to the optin form. When someone inputs their email and clicks to send it, I'd like to see a way to then show them something offering an extra bonus of some kind if they're willing to share this offer/gift/whatever with their friends.

I hope that makes sense!

You can already do this with One Press's Social Locker plugin. You could simply use the plugin on the "Thank You" page that you direct people to after opting in. It's a premium plugin available at Code Canyon that I've purchased before but stopped using in a post because it didn't get any use. But I love your way of thinking. I offer a small front end offer ($7-10) after people optin. I'm thinking of a free, OTO if they share my post after subscribing. Any way, you can use my link to checkout the plugin: https://Localmixed.c...ck/sociallocker

I can definitely see that happening. I've been throwing around raising the price of MD in general but think I'd like to see some more features, particularly design related, before I do that. It will be interesting tweaking prices of MD + addons and the business around here grows.

Now that is a cool plugin! CodeCanyon has a lot of outstanding plugins for sale.

Awesome to hear about the custom HTML. That would mean I could paste a video embed code and use it as a video overlay correct? (ie: Action Lead w/ "click to watch" popups up into the video.)

I also use LeadPages reluctantly. It's expensive and I literally only use it for a few pop-up links. Unfortunately I don't see myself being able to cancel it because I need it for one non-MD site, but MD popups in the $30-40 one-time range feels good.

This.

I use it reluctantly but it has awesome features.

I don't think MD popups/exit, at least at the outset should be Kolaleadpages but could be in time.

With MD Pops + Active Campaign you could do all LP does anyway (although messier).

You got it, that's actually a perfect use for this addon. I'm going to send an update out to MD before releasing the addon and it will make hooking the popups into your Page Leads easy. Hope we can get that other site on MD one of these days then. :D

Awesome. Another addition that would be rad is a video play button overlay. Having the option of a button with "watch now" and a transparent "play" button would be great.

Then you can do things like this.

And for now there's ways you could code something like this together, but I could also see this as being an additional Page Lead at some point.

Hope we can get that other site on MD one of these days then. :D

I have a hard time touching the Kingpin site because I don't want to disrupt the SEO on that one article. It drives big traffic, I worry if I make changes to the site it could lose some of that.

Here are some other suggestions I have based on my experience getting gamequitters.com setup on MD this week:

Page Leads:

- Ability to add custom css classes to buttons in Page Leads. (Html classes are possible atm, but I don't believe css classes?)

- Ability to add "open in new page" to links/buttons in Page Leads.

- Shortcode option for each Page Lead. That would be a quicker way to bypass the multiple page leads per page as I mentioned to you on Twitter.

Scripts:

- For A/B testing, Ad tracking, it was really nice that Thesis had the "Scripts" box specific for each post/page on the site. Right now I'm not sure how to add conversion tracking scripts (that need to be on specific pages only) to them.

Cam, I'm glad you brought the video player idea up! It's ideas like that I took into consideration while writing the popup scripts because I want to make any HTML element a popup trigger. So with MD Popups, you could take that video player image you have and make it the popup trigger very easily. The code would go something like this:

<img src="imageurl" data-popup="md_popup_3" class="md-popup" />

Easy as hell right? Obviously since its HTML, you can place it anywhere to trigger the popup. All you have to do is get the ID of the popup (which will be available to you through the Popups interface I'm building) and add the md-popup class to your code and you can make anything trigger the popup. I'm not going to BS you and brand it as "MDTriggerLinks™® " or something like that, it's just simple HTML here.

As for a Video Lead, I am thinking about something like that for sure. Hoping to put focus back on Page Leads once this addon is out there! So much to do.

Valid point for sure. I've never done a thorough study of the SEO effects of switching a theme, so my opinion may be worthless here, but the new MD has an improved HTML5 structure with markup schema (basically a more modern SEO codebase than MD2) so I can't see many, if any, negative effects from upgrading. Maybe pay attention to Game Quitters and see if you can learn anything from the switch you just made. Sorry I don't have a better answer on that but I'd be interested in hearing your results if you decide to go for it!

Great feedback man, here are my thoughts:

- Agreed, right now only the Email Lead has classes but this would be a valuable feature for sure.

- I can see this sneaking into the pre-Popups update.

- This will absolutely be a feature in MD one day, I've got good ideas for extending what's in Page Leads now and shortcodes will be like icing on the cake.

- Another good idea. There is a plugin that lets you do this (haven't tested it myself but looks legit) and also a way to code it in your child theme's functions.php file:

function md_custom_scripts() { ?>

    <?php if ( is_single( ID ) ) : ?>
        <script>...</script>

    <?php elseif ( is_single ( ID ) ) : ?>
        <script>...</script>

    <?php endif; ?>

<?php }

add_action( 'wp_footer', 'md_custom_scripts' );

yeah, but to make a theme with all the features you, me and everyone else wants is impossible. I understand avoiding plugins if possible, and I even mentioned earlier in this thread about the benefit of having MD based plugins, but it is a simple fact that you will have to use plugins. After all, WP is built on the premise that you can design a site by using plugins.

You can always use that plugin until, and if, that becomes a feature of MD.

If you do it correctly, there will be no SEO benefit. I just redid my entire theme to a custom MD theme and it is doing better than ever. Though that is mostly because I had to make a slight change to post's url which got it ranked for another keyword (I should have done it from the beginning). But as Alex says, MD has schema built in that will only help the on-site SEO.

I think you are giving too much weight to the theme and not enough to the content of your post and any links that might be pointing to it. Your url, <title> and content are the most important on-site SEO elements. If you don't change those, you should be pretty good to go.

That's not what I am saying.

Avoiding plugins per function, or minimising, is useful.

Sometimes unavoidable, I know.

Prefer not to have 58 plugins for one capability e.g. EventOn events.

Yeah, I would call 58 plugins for a single capability a little overboard. I have 24 plugins running on my site. Though I can get rid of at least on of them.

Anyways, I think I unintentionally diverted this thread away from the topic of the modules.

No problem, actually some pretty interesting conversations have come from this. I have 28 plugins on Kolakube right now, 8 of them dedicated to the ecommerce features from Easy Digital Downloads which feels crazy at times. I'd love a way to one-click update everything so I don't have to manually manage all these different features - especially if MD gets enough addons to create the same problems.

We'll start with MD Popups and see how it goes.

Alex, one note on the checkbox to open link in a new tab. I didn't mention the main application I wrote it down for originally was content spotlight. It would be great in Page Leads as well.

Is it possible to have some type of plugin (MD style) that would be added to the end of blog posts and recommend other post

Also was thinking the exit intent modal could have recommended post as the user goes to close the browser. (ViralNova does this but its an ad network)

I've seen some MD users do this, it may be from a Jetpack module: https://wordpress.org/plugins/jetpack/.

There will be an area for you to enter custom HTML into the exit intent, so technically, you could paste a shortcode or something like that in there!

Hey guys,

It's been a long month of work but MD Popups is nearing completion. I won't reveal too much just yet, but I wanted to share this screenshot of what the admin panel is gearing up to look like (see attached image).

I'm very proud of how everything is coming out with this product, particularly on the optimization end. I believe this will be the fastest popup plugin available out there, and you guys will have a lot of fun designing with it.

Some of the features included will be:

  1. Create unlimited popups
  2. Design + edit popups with live preview
  3. Add your own custom HTML content
  4. Integration with MD Email = code-free email forms
  5. Exit intent or show on delay functionality
  6. Output any popup you created in the Manager (see screenshot) with a simple shortcode (or simple HTML)
  7. Fully responsive, lightweight, and many design combinations
  8. Buy once, no monthly fee (optional annual subscription fee for updates)

For now I'll let your imagination run wild at what happens when you click the "Edit Popup" button. Let me know if you have any further questions or suggestions, I'll be reaching out to a few of you for beta testing.

Do I get to beta test it since I came up with the idea?  ;)
